For over 20 years, the Rotary Club of Clearwater has sponsored this unique fishing tournament which demonstrates the importance of partnership, both on the water and in the community. Thanks to the help of our tournament sponsors and fishermen, the biggest winners of the Kingfish Tournament are local charities. Over the duration of the tournament, the Rotary Club of Clearwater has donated almost $1 Million dollars to numerous Tampa Bay charities. We are proud that our tournament is sanctioned by the Old Salt Fishing Foundation.

This unique fishing tournament demonstrates the importance of partnership…both on the water and in the community. Thanks to your help, the biggest winners of the Kingfish Tournament are local charities. The charities that will benefit from the 2017 tournament will be selected after the tournament proceeds are determined.  Please contact the Rotary Club of Clearwater if you would like to recommend a local charity for consideration.

The Tournament is exciting and extremely competitive. A grand prize of $5,000 and last place prize of $1,000 are guaranteed and additional prizes will be awarded based on the number of boat entries. Junior division 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes will be awarded.

Tournament Registration

The 2017 25th Annual Kingfish Tournament will be held April 22, 2017. On behalf of the Rotary Club of Clearwater’s 100 active Rotarians, we hope you will come to enjoy the festivities, fellowship, and fun at the 25th annual Kingfish Tournament. You are important to our success!

Entry Fee:$300 per boat
Registration:Regular boat entry registration closes at the end of the Captain’s meeting on Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Late Registration:Late registration of $350 will be accepted via online registration through midnight, Friday, April 21st – No Exceptions! TWT (optional entry) available at $100 per boat. Maximum of 6 (six) anglers per boat. Registration limited to the first 150 boats.

Captains are responsible for their boats and crews at all times and sign an affidavit as such. All participating boats must meet Federal and Florida State safety regulations of size. Channel 18 is the official Tournament channel. All official tournament information will be announced over VHF Channel 18. Participants must switch to another channel for all other radio transmissions.

All participating boats will be assigned a tournament number card which must be prominently displayed at all times. Any two boats coming together or passing anything between boats after checkout for any reason before weigh-in will be disqualified. In the event of a breakdown, an alternative boat may be substituted with permission of the Committee Boat. As safety is of prime importance, exceptions can be granted by the radio network controller for emergencies.

Captain’s Party and Silent Auction

All participating captains must be present. Distribution of Captain’s buckets, review of the rules, and evaluation of the competition will occur at this meeting. Teammates, spouses, friends, captains and mates are encouraged to attend.

Time:Cocktail social begins at 6:00 p.m., followed by the mandatory Captain’s Meeting at 7:00 p.m.
